Therapy Approach

Choosing to enter into a therapeutic relationship is a courageous decision, and a first step towards healing and bringing about positive changes. I strive to create an atmosphere of support, empathy, and compassion that facilitates the long-term growth my clients seek.

I provide therapy primarily to adults, children, and families, with areas of specialization that include impacts of parental divorce, women’s mental health, relationship stressors/anxieties, professional transitions, and concerns related to spirituality and faith development.

As a former public child welfare social worker and therapist in community mental health, I have worked with many families experiencing times of crisis and life transitions. I developed skills while doing this work that additionally enable me to provide parenting support and treatment for traumatic stress.

Although I view myself as a clinician first and foremost, I have also pursued advanced doctoral training in the field of human development and psychology. I use a variety of theoretical perspectives based on my training that have broader clinical applications in my work with clients. My orientation to therapy is primarily cognitive-behavioral and solution-focused, but I also draw upon relational-cultural, psychodynamic, and adult development theories in my practice.
