Therapy Approach
For nearly 20 years I have worked with adults, children, families, and groups facing challenges, grappling with suffering, and aspiring toward greater understanding, fulfillment, and connection in their lives and relationships. In that time I have gained extensive experience dealing with issues of depression, anxiety, addiction, trauma, relationship conflict, chronic mental illness, grief & loss, and spirituality.
My approach to therapy is grounded in the belief that much of human suffering stems from a separateness, a rupture, or an incohesiveness between the core dimensions of our lives: psychological, interpersonal, physical, and spiritual. Powerful growth and healing can be rooted in the work of striving to integrate, or re-integrate, the unique and complicated combination of elements making up these dimensions within each person’s life. I am committed to creating trusting, warm, and accepting relationships with my clients in order to effectively enter such important and personal work together.
I have studied Buddhist ethics, meditation, and psychology for over 10 years, which deeply influences my approach to working with individuals to help them address their suffering, improve their lives, and reach their aspirations.
I work with my each individual to collaboratively identify and select the most useful approach or combination of approaches to best serve that specific client and their unique experience. Undertaking and realizing the benefits of such work takes courage, commitment, humor, and compassion on the part of both the therapist and client. I encourage you to contact me to schedule an appointment if you believe such an approach and partnership can be helpful to you.
