Get to Know:
My approach to therapy is strength based and client centered, working to provide a safe and trusting experience to find resolution and relief from emotional distress. I partner with clients to explore and learn more about themselves, heal, and move forward towards a healthier future. My style is to be engaging, empathetic and culturally aware with clients.

I work with clients navigating life transitions (pregnancy, parenting, marriage, separation, divorce, death and other losses) or moving through life’s developmental stages (young adulthood, middle ages, late adulthood).

For over 20 years I have supported families addressing complex familial dynamics related to adoption/foster/kin/guardianship experiences, step-parenting, as well as attachment, loss and grief issues. This work extends to birth parents and families around termination, estrangement and reunification.

I am also experienced in addressing addiction using a harm reduction lens and stages of change model. Clients are supported in developing coping skills, managing triggers and urges and relapse prevention strategies.

The bulk of my training and experience is helping clients heal from trauma (developmental, complex, accidental, assault, neglect, disaster, war, intimate partner, familial and transgenerational). My specialty is incorporating Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT, also referred to as Tapping) into the clinical work with clients. EFT balances the meridian energy in our bodies which when used in a clinical session quickly and easily neutralizes negative emotions. EFT is an evidence based technique effective in working with clients with depression, anxiety, PTSD, phobias, eating disorders, addiction and somatic conditions.

Additionally, depending on a client’s needs and interest I draw on a range of treatment modalities including Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Structural Family Systems Therapy.
