Therapy approach:

I believe therapy is both an equal partnership and a collaborative journey. It begins with you telling me what you’re struggling with and how you arrived at this particular place in your life. I, in turn, will offer you an objective perspective, gently challenging the negative thoughts that drive emotional distress and self-defeating behaviors. Everyone one of us, I believe, has a wiser self who is capable of making reasoned choices that lead to happier and more productive lives. I will help you tap into your wiser self. I’m a strong proponent of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – the idea that our negative thoughts lead to painful emotions and misguided behaviors. I am trained in a myriad of other theories. But I consider the paramount part of the therapeutic process is the bond, trust, and rapport we build with each other.

Get to Know:

“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat, or cure, or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth?”Carl Rogers. Like Rogers, I believe therapy should be client-centered, with each of us having a seat at the helm. I also think that in order for therapy to be truly effective, the therapist must be empathic, non-judgmental, and hold her clients in unconditional positive regard.
